Getting ready to head to Schiphol. Heading for Dublin for 5 days. (Will attend a Silva Method intro training). Don't you hate it when you are trying to remember, if you forgot anything and you can't remember anything.

Next Thursday going to a Silva Method Workshop in Dublin.

Found a book on the "Silva Method" in a London bookstore a few weeks back. I've been the basic excercise for a while now and I think my concentration ability has improved. (Also the other day I was resting and my internal pictures seemed to have improved in quality quite a bit).

I'm working out of Almere now. (Its a 1 hour drive each way from my place. My manager had suggested I wait until a little later, before moving up here. (To make sure it is something long term)). But outside it is raining like crazy.
I was in London last week for a training. I actually flew out of Rotterdam. If anyone remembers Robert Muller BEFORE it had ANY gates (when you could go onto the observation deck on the roof and you walked to the planes), Rotterdam's airport is SMALLER than that.
It was an interesting visit, for Londoner's it was hot, to me it just seemed comfortable to warm. (The Tube though was probably over 100F and it WAS 'hot'. The PA was making announcements about what to do in the event someone fainted and advising people to carry water. I think they were planning to start passing out bottled water and someone mentioned it was 45C (~112F) at one of the stations. (I did bikram yoga before and the most unpleasent part of the heat (in the tube) was the amount I was sweating).
Despite having a TV in my room I completely ignored it.
Here in the Netherlands there are some English language bookstores, but not anything comparable to a Borders or Barnes&Nobles. So going to an actual bookstore was one of my goals I visited Foyles and a few others and spent about $120 on books. (Interestingly there were "Borders Bookstores" there. but I actually didn't visit them). Somehow Starbucks has also established a major beachhead in London as well, but hasn't made it to the Netherlands.
Of course I did some sight seeing, but not much. (Mostly what one can see from just walking around outside, The Millennium Bridge, the Clink, The Globe Theatere, China Town, etc).

Biked to work last week and it was much easier. Today I biked to the Center of The Hague and back, about 5x the distance to work. (It in the mid 60's F). Much easier to handle. (Stopped for Lunch in Old Rijswijk and then went to the center, chatted with C at her job, visited the American Book Center, wandered back home).
Current mood: Workout buzzz

According to Google Pedometer. The distance to my work is actually almost 3km. So I feel a little vindicated.
(I just travelled to the area of my office by bike (wandered around a garden center). This afternoon and round trip was 5.7 KM. Which I think I handle pretty well).

I finally bought a bike after almost 3 years in the Netherlands. (Basically everyone in the Netherlands owns a bike, in fact there are more bikes than people).
I haven't done any serious biking in over 10 years, so it is a little stressful.
Last Saturday I biked 3 miles (5 kilometers) to Nootdorp. Not too bad (Stopped a few times). Tuesday I tried biking to work (1 KIilometer), to Ypenburgse Poort . I thought I was going to throw up. (I was going slightly uphill, into the wind (remember they actually have enough wind to stuff here), plus I was trying to carry a laptop bag. Though most of the day I had a slight workout buzz.
Today did 3 kilometers. to Broekpolder. (Much easier).
Current mood: Workout Buzz
I just noticed the temperature. It 16°C. Its a little brisk, I know about 19°C is a very pleasant temperature.
I wondered what it was in °F.
BC told me a real simple trick, just Mulitply °Cx2 and it it to 32. Or (2*C)+32
Previously I had been multiplying it by 9/5 which is a real pain.
After Brian's revalation I realized a much simply way was:
1. Multiply °C time 2. Currently it is 16°C, so the result is 32. 2. Find 10%. (10% of 32 is 3). 3. Subtract it. (29. I really don't need to be too acurate). 4. Add it THAT result to 32.
As I quickly ran through Steps 1-2-3 in my head. When I got to the Addition, MY BRIAN FROOZE!!! (So not the Multiplication, the Division, the Substraction, BUT THE ADDITIION was my stumbling block).
Current mood: Amused confussion

Yesterday I was thinking I wanted to working on dealing with criticism.
As I left work I realized I needed to fill up. (Also Sunday I was sick and still slightly sick Monday). Went by the gas station, put about 20 EUR's of Gasoline in VW Diesel car. (Note Gasoline != Diesel ). I was about 300 meters from my apartment and the engine. died. (Gasoline needs an actual spark plug to ignite).
While waiting for the pickup truck, I realized my mistake. I then spent quite a while chastising myself and feeling bad about myself. Later that evening, I was at home and became introspective.
One of the things I realized was I was receiving criticism from myself. I read some of Robert Ditz book "Slight of Mouth" and was thinking through one of the excercizes and it came to me...... ....."If I was to stop feeling guilty? How would I avoid repeating the problem"
Somehow I had determined that guilt and feeling bad were required to "avoid" the problem in the future.
So: criticsm* -> guilt -> incentive to avoid the problem. (So the part of me that wants to improve, is actually holding onto the guilt b/c it thinks it is necessary).
*Either self or external criticism.
(This morning walked to work, hopefully it is a cheap repair).

Just watched the Clone Wars Animated Movie. Oh GOD!!! Now I can understand how Darth Vader could kill the younglin in RotSith. Some writer added the part of Anakin calling her "scraps" a party of me wondered if the writer realized how ridiculous Anakin's Padwan was and he was making a subtlie reference to "ScrappyDo".
Current mood: Hypoglycemic Shock (too much sweatness)

What one word would you use to describe me?

Over the weekend went to the Center and checked out some bookstores. I was in one of the really big Dutch ones and remembered I was interested in "The Case of the Dog at Night". I stepped to the other side of the table and there it was. So bought it. The character's narration was very different from others (the main char has asperger's syndrome), and I think the author (who I don't think has it) managed to get the aspie thinking process down (IMO) pretty good. (Short read. Finished it Saturday night/Sun Morn).
Friday I was supposed to have an interview with a company in Amsterdam. I spent Thursday evening and Friday morning psyching myself into the right frame of mind. Then just before lunch Fri, it was canceled because of a problem on their end. Monday no word either. My agent said I could work from home Friday afternoon and then Monday when I spoke to her again, it was ok. So my weekend seemed very long. Back in the office at the agency today.
Went to Leiden Saturday for a small party/get together one of the girls from the bowling team was putting on. Had fun. Got back into town after the trams stopped running, so had to take the night bus home, which is only once every hour. Almost finished the book waiting and riding the bus. Some slight snow flurries and ice.

I'm curious if anyone still read this journal. I went through a very long dry spell. Post a reply, if you actually still read this stuff.

It's really disappointed me seeing the attacks on Palin and her daughter. Especially from a supposed Buddhist, who is expressing anger, and who aslo is a feminist (though apparently it only extends to Democratic Women).
I came this post (from (apparently a Democratic Woman) that expresses many of my thoughts, so much better than I can:
I did not write this

September 2nd, 2008. The 2008 Election ended this morning as a vast cadre of liberals, progressives, Democrats and like minded journalists lifted the white flag and surrendered.
We surrendered something a whole lot more valuable than our vote. We surrendered our principles. We surrendered our core values.
We surrendered all hope. We surrendered our shared dreams that our daughters would inherit a better world, a world of promise, equality, justice, fairness and honor.
We had dreamed of a world where our 17 years old daughters wouldn't be striped naked and raped on the front page of the New York Times, above the fold.
We dreamed of a world where a candidate, man or woman, could run for the highest office in the land and not be "swiftboated" with sexual lies and slander so vicious, so cruel, so gross and destructive that they actually wither our very soul.

Been watching the Count of Monte Cristo, not the Hollywood movie from a few years ago, but the French Mini-Series with Gerard De Pardu (sp). It makes me want to go buy the book and re-read it.
I disagree with the writers apparently killing Msr Murel (sp), right after the Count's kindness. (IIRC, in the book he died many years later, peacefully and happily). Though it might have to do with their cutting the time frame to almost immediately. They changed some of the 'crimes' of the Dante's persecuters, so it does ad a bit of mystery to the film, even though I've read the book.

One of the People at Bikram told me the other day TNH will host a retreat in Holland in the Spring next year.

Interesting. The Republican's are pretty much doing the bare minimum required by law to have their convention, and probably will not have very many people in the convention center. Though the protest will go on...........
